Q: How do I start volunteering?
A. You must sign up for an available volunteer slot at broadstreetministry.volunteerhub.com. Please create an account by clicking “sign in” and then “register” on the VolunteerHub page. Once you’ve created an account you’ll be able to see all of our available opportunities and register yourself for a slot that fits your schedule!
Q: May I come just once?
A: You may, although we do encourage volunteers to consider coming on a monthly or quarterly basis.
Q: I have a group that wants to volunteer. What do I do now?

Q: How many volunteers does Broad Street Ministry have?
A: We have over 500 individual volunteers filling over 7,000 slots each year.
Q: Does Broad Street Ministry have volunteer opportunities on the weekends?
A: Yes. Broad Street Ministry serves a lunch on Saturdays. The time frame for volunteers is 10:45am-1:30pm. Please note that Saturday slots fill up quickly and are often booked out a few months in advance. We also offer mail sorting on Sundays from 1:00-3:00pm.
Q: How do I get to Broad Street Ministry?
A: We’re located between Spruce and Pine Streets on Broad Street (right across from the Kimmel Center). We’re a block away from the Walnut/Locust subway stop and two blocks from the Lombard/South subway stop, both on the Orange Line. We do not have a parking lot or garage. If you’re driving you can use the Ampco parking garage located at 337 S. Broad Street or try your luck with on-street parking.
Q: Can I volunteer in the kitchen?
A: Currently, we are not asking for kitchen volunteers.
Q: What should I wear when I volunteer?
A: Comfortable closed-toe shoes are encouraged. No tank tops, short shorts, short skirts or excessive jewelry. Please wear clothing that you are ok getting a little dirty or sweaty.
Q: Can kids volunteer?
A: All volunteers must be at least 16 years old.
Q: What if I have to leave early or come late for my?
A: If you must leave early or come late for your shift, please cancel the shift a week in advance and select one that better fits your schedule.
Q: What if I have an emergency and can’t make my shift?
A: Please cancel your shift if you have an emergency.
