Sponsor A Meal

lunchHomelessness, poverty and hunger are complex issues affecting all of Philadelphia and are too challenging for any one organization to significantly impact alone. You can help Broad Street Ministry make a huge difference.

Six days a week, Breaking Bread at Broad Street offers a hot, nutritious meal along with comprehensive services that are critical to men and women experiencing homelessness and poverty. Prepared by a professional chef and served restaurant style, meals are a means of building trust so that vulnerable adults who are sometimes reluctant to access services will feel empowered to seek help. To remove barriers to access, social services are provided by partner organizations here at Broad Street during Breaking Bread meals.

For $1,000, you or your company, church, faith community, group or organization can Sponsor a Meal. Your donation covers the cost a Breaking Bread meal for approximately 400 people, including food, preparation and coordination of volunteers to serve the meal. You and your group are also invited to come and help serve the meal if you would like.

There are also other ways in which you can help. For $400, you can support the purchase and coordination of personal care items distributed at a meal. $200 provides funds to coordinate opening the clothing closet for a meal. $100 will sponsor one mail subscriber for a year of service so that he or she can apply for jobs, receive benefits, obtain identification to access buildings and services, receive prescription medicines or just stay in touch with family. You are also welcome to do a clothing or personal care drive, which would help us maintain a consistent supply of essential items for our guests.
